This type of buzzard comes from America. Preferring open, wide terrain, only sporadically can they be seen on the edge of sparse forests or on plateaus. As with most birds of prey, one can not distinguish between the sexes by their plumage. Only the size is an indicator, as the females are usually about one third larger than the males. The main prey of the Ferruginous are rats, mice, squirrels, ground squirrels and hares. Although Birds, reptiles and insects also, are not spared by these birds
